Hi
Had a problem where the adjustment bolt actually broke away from the axle carriier inside the swingarm...anyone else had this and is there an easy fix for this?..can u weld the piece back on?..looks like the whole axle will have to be removed to get this bolt back in place..sigh..any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I had this happen to me.
I pulled the other nut off. Then the plate will come off that goes around the bolts, this will give you plenty of room. I bought a new stud from the dealer. I drilled a small hole in the broken stud and used an easy out to remove it. Installed the new one and reassembled. Mine was broke off flush, you might be able to grab yours with a vise grip. The hardest part was centering the drill bit on the stud. I used a small socket to help me line it up.
From what I read I found it was caused by improper torque of the carrier clamping bolts. I now torque the carrier clamping bolts to spec each time I adjust the chain. The bolt with athe 17mm head is ~72 ft lbs, and the bolt with a 14mm head is ~53 ft lbs.
Also make sure your swingarm housing around your carrier is clean each time you adjust your chain.

about 2 weeks ago one of the 4 bolts u loosen to tighten the chain came out and i lost it,got that fixed last week end, i rode 2 days this week about 30 min or so after school and today i went to get ready to tighten my chain and mine done the exact same thing, i think were talkin about the same bolt(the one in the back to tighten the chain) broke. it wasnt even tighten all the way up it was about a forth of the way and the 3 of the 4 bolts u loosen to adjust the chain was loose after i put lock tight on the the first time it broke. mines a 06 and already falling apart.

hey everyone. I'm new on here I ride a 03 z400 just got done putting the chain back on but i try to loosen the four bolts on top of the bearing carrier - swing arm and I could not get any of the long bolts to come out. I just loosen them up and the bottom 17mm on left was too tight even hit it with and impact gun try to loosen it up and nothing, I was afraid it was going to break it but, didn't but one of the 14mm on top right broke i guess over torqued it and broke! i got everything back on working fine but i only have 3 top bolts out of 4 any ideas on how i could replace the 14mm bolt?
