Default eiger tapping 06

i bought this thing (eiger 400) brand new and ever since i've had it it makes a slight tapping from the motor after in warms up. What is it ? vaulve? muffuler? normal engine noise? Has this happened to anyone else? Did i make a mistake in buy this machine? I'm taking it to the shop for "piece of mind" but I would like some insite before going.

thanks

The engine noise is normal, it sounds like it's knocking a little bit but it's fine, you might also hear a winding noise from the tranny that is also normal. Don't let any of that bother you, this is an awesome machine, I have an 05, put it through hell and it still goes.

I don't have one but if its normal its normal I am curious on what type of gas you are using becuase it may be causing a valve tap

how long have you been riding it because after you break it in you should get the valves adjusted oil and spark plugs

............I just turned 3000 miles on my 2003 Eiger........stop worrying. A bit of engine noise is not unusual........especially with Suzuki.
Do the recommended break-in service..........the dealer will do a valve, LOF and send you on your way.
I'd suggest a service plan.......and use it.
Go to a pure synthetic oil........consider a K&N air filter (maintain it)
You have an excellent quad..........and don't pay too much attention to the cc junkies........you'll go everywhere they go........every time..........and for a long time.

Valve tap isn't caused by the wrong octane...Knocking is caused by low octane. Valve noise is from them being out of specs. The noise I belive he is hearing is from the cam chain. Z's do it also so I'm guessing it's a Suzuki thing
