Default Stock exhaust end cap z400

I'm thinking about getting an aftermarket exhaust for my Z. I saw that there is a different end cap for the stock exhaust. That say it improves performance and sound. What are your guy's thoughts on this? Good, bad, worth looking at?

If I were you Id probably go w/ the full exhaust system. An end cap isnt going to make as big
of a difference as that.

yea the Z,s end cap is very restrictive....

If ya wanted to just take off the stocker & cut the screen & what not out of it. open up the air box & I bet.... you get about the same performance & sound as the end cap you looking @...

I did that to my Z when I 1st got it.. it woke up a little bit..

But as atvmike92 said "go w/ the full exhaust system" & then open up the air box & rejet... you will notice a big improvement

its best not to do it like that because the head pipe is really bad too. You need a full system pipe with jets and the lid taken off of the airbox. i know it sounds like a lot of work but if you need any help putting it all on, we'll be here for ya...

i suspect your in a money crunch .i know they dont give complete muffler systems away,ya big bucks. yes the end cap should be replaced or even do a mod to the one you have .cut the center out of the one you have , change the jets (142.5+)and needle and get rid of that stock air filter
IMHO go with the UNI with pre charger and lose the air box lid one thing more get a rev box that extra grand of R's will empress you.
and then some day get the complete exhaust system ,just getting the slip-on silencer is defeating its full potential.

yeah i dont thinik you should do the rev limiter before the pipe. the pipe full system is the door to any other mod on your engine

thats very true .but thats why i recommended the 142.5 jet .if he were to go with the full system
he'd need a much bigger jet.to get the full potential of the full system exhaust.which is great if he has the kind of $$$ that kind of mod will cost. I'm just trying to KISS it and wake up what he has.

Cheapest mod to improve acceleration and power on the low-end, $6.99 primary drive 13 tooth front sprocket (1 less than stock) from Rocky Mountain ATV. I like it for the trails and the dunes. On the trails it allows you to lug it a little more and reduce the chances of stalling while riding at low speeds (especially in 2nd gear).

now he got it tore down to but in a hi compression piston and new vales and of course a new full exhaust system. all we do is trail ride!

We have both a KFX 400 and a LTZ 400 and have 12 tooth sprocket on the front and 44 tooth on the rear. These work perfect for both serious trail riding in the mountains, and Sand dune riding with paddles. Sure it cuts the top end down but 40+ mph is more then enough for us.

In the sand we never use 1st gear, mostly 3rd, sometimes 2nd and sometime 4th.
