Does Anyone Know?
Hey guys, they just cracked down on my local riding area. theres not much good riding land without trouble around here and im really thinking about getting a truck. Im going to college soon anyways and wont be using my baby much anyway. I need something cool to drive and would rather die than not have an offroad machine. Say I bought a nice old toyota 6cyl for like 2500 or something, how much would it cost to give it a nice lift and some knarly looking tires?

is the z paid for?? if it is id keep it.i had a 96 shee and i never rode it after i grad. from high school(to much partying).sold it in 97 and wish i would have just kept the damn thing. as soon as you get rid of it you will find somebody thats rides alot and then you will have to go buy a new 1.college and extra money dont go together .
good luck!! i'd go with some good mud/road tires. strait mud tires wear fast on roads and are loud.

it won't be too bad. if your looking at a 2500 toyota then your looking at an old one. chances are it will be a basic setup with leaf springs and shocks. its coils and a-arm setups that get pricey. you should be able to get a decent 4" suspension lift with everything you need for around 400.00- I have lifted several jeeps, both cj and yj series with kits made by a company called "rough country" and they would be great for what you want. if you have a setup like this you can save yourself about 600.00 by installing it yourself. its not hard to do at all, its time consuming- thats why it cost so much to pay a mechanic to do it. wheels and tires will cost more than your lift in this case. shop around, many places offer price matching. what i did was searched for the tire that i wanted, found the site that offered the cheapest shipping rate, then had them match the price of another site. I did the same thing with my rims. for tires, i would suggest the BFG all terrains, or if you want a more aggressive tread pattern with minimal road noise go with Mickey Thompson baja radial claw.
