Why is my 88lt250r so slow??!!
#1
I put a 12 tooth front sprocket on my lt and it only goes like 60 now on my garmin geko GPS. and I have some mods listed below, stock gearing (12/42) and I have 22" rear tires.
I thought I seen a magazine article that said the 88 lt250r was supposed to go 71 or something?
what's up with my bike?
thanks for any input

Are you sure, I thought it had a 13 tooth stock. And how far did you run it out? 71 is really fast. Alot of people think their bikes are faster than they are, they are reported to be faster than they are, etc..... Not busting *****, I love lt250r's! Awesome bike. I was just making a bit of a statement.
How healthy is your motor? I don't know how fast they actually are but with stock gearing and 22" rears you should be able to wind out and be a bit faster in the top than stock would be as the taller tires take away from the gear ratio.

I dont know why your quad is so slow, but i have an 89 lt250r and it hauls a** the fastest i have had it going is almost 85. I dont think i have anything special on it, but then again i am still learning. if you have any questions about it feel free to ask i will sure try to answer them. Best of luck with your 250

I think the throttle is opening up all the way, because it seems to rev out pretty high, but i'll check. Could someone before me have changed the tranny gears so it's slower?

I doubt that the tranny was swaped. But you might only be shifting up to 5th gear and 6th is locked or stripped. I'm sure you know your Qracer is a six speed and would have thought of this though.
