Was out riding yesterday....Quad was running fine ..out of now where the quad began to bog down...spit and sputter..It was almost like it was running out of gas. Now when youtry to start it....everyonce in a while it will cough, and backfire a little through the carb?..Any help ???? Now to it does have a full tank of NEW fuel...I have changed out the spark plug...the air filter is brand new and clean.....?????????

Sounds like the same thing my quad did. Here is a couple of questions, is it blowing blue smoke(at or above idle) has it lost power? The bike has no fuel filter so don't waste your time looking for it. Here is what I would do. Take off your air filter and look down the intake tube. Check to see if the butterfly has dirt on it. Do a compression test normal is 142 psi. The reason for all this is my quad sucked dirt through the stock air and now the whole top end is getting rebuilt. Go get an aftermarket air filter ASAP. Suzuki is having a huge problem with their air filters and them letting dirt by. Anyway good luck and keep us posted.

Well the butterfly had a bunch of dirt on it, so taking your advice I did a compression test.....any guesses on what my compression is??....any takers????....well I will save you the trouble, it was 0..no compression...at all. So I am gonna be taking the top end off tomorrow to see what kind of damage has been done.

It seems very unlikely that you would have no compression at all. I would recheck the procedure you are using. Do you have the right adapter for the spark plug thread. Also something to consider it could be the fuel pump/check valve on the fuel tank.
The Nyrocatv.com forum is the biggest as far as King quads go. Do some search's over there under filter and check valve you will find lots of info. Again if the quad runs at all it has to have some compression. I have heard people haveing reading is the 80's and 90's but never heard of a running engine having none.

Well Belive it RedKINGQuad...the compression was ZERO!!!!....It had nothing to do with the fuel pump, or anything fuel related. I took the top end off and found that my piston had warped. not only did my piston warp but I snaped the piston rings, and I now have gouges out of my cylinder wall...and I mean a chunk is missing. With the warped piston it also shattered the piston skirt. I now have to pull the engine and split the case to try to find the rest of my piston skirt...ohhh the fun I am gonna have..

Well that stinks that you have to tear into the motor but at least you know what is wrong. Good luck with the whole thing. Should have mine back this week.

I find it odd that you have one that the motor went bad on. I think that there one of the more durible motors out there, where I work we've only had one rod failer and that one ran just was noisy. I hade one that the revrse hade a whine in it but other than that

Friend of mine has a KQ that had the dirt getting past the filter problem that trashed his engine and never could get suzuki to fix it.
