Default New Vinson first impressions

Finally picked up my new '06 Vinson 5 speed today.
It is a '06 leftover they gave me a good deal on.
Didn't get home with it in time to ride much. (About 14 mi.)

Like the way it looks, Nice cushy seat. Good fender protection. Dont care much for the cheap plastic fasteners everywhere.
Rides nice for a SRA machine. Seems very stable in off cambers. Slides well, very predictable, no surprises. Actually feels lighter than it really is.
Didnt get it in anything real messy but seems to hook up good in snow (about 4")and mud (nothing deep just slimy ground thawing mud)
Sort of disappointed in how it ran. Just dont have the power I expected it to. Hopefully that will change when it starts getting broke in.

It will pick up more power when it gets broken in. I think the Vinson handles so well and delivers the power so predictably you really dont really realize you are hailing a**. Give it a few more miles then try some fast trail riding against some of the other mfrs. in the same cc class. That will bring a smile to your face. Ohhell just go ahead and try it against some of the big bores, the little Vinson can hang.
There are lots of performance mods to be had for the Vinson as well. If I were you I would ride it for a while then if the power still is not enough, pm me and I can give you some suggestions for upgrades.

I had a 04 5 speed and liked it alot. I put a jet kit in her and pulled the spark arrestor. Did have a pipe but it was to loud for me. The pipe helped it alot if you dont mind the noise.

Looks like we have the same bike. I love mine. I do have an hmf exhaust. And it is jetted. My husband has one also. What type of riding do you do with yours. We mainly trail ride and mud bog.

Got to ride a little more yesterday before the rain set in.
It is running better and pulling stronger all the time.
I will probably pit a pipe, filter and rejet in the future but I will have to wait till the warranty runs out.

I mainly do fast trail riding and exploring. I dont go looking for big mud but I dont avoid it either.
The low range is nice for weaving through the woods where there is no path at all.
It will also come in handy for working on the farm here too.

My main goal in buying the Vinson was to have a quad that would be all purpose.
Maybe not excel at anything but capable of everything.
A little sporty to ride with the sport quads,
Mud capable to ride with the boggers,
Something to take me camping and hunting,
Something to do chores on the farm.

I believe I made a good choice.

According to this 500cc Utility ATV camparison The Vinson has one of the faster and stronger motored 500 Utilities you can buy.

If you bought something else you would of been more disappointed if power is important to you.
