Default Ozark or z250

I've never rode a four wheelier before and i've never rode anything that i've had to shift. The only thing i've ever rode was a 49cc dirt bike witch had 1hp and toped out at 18mph. All my friends had things that went 50mph and i was always left in the dust. I was thinking about buying a new dirt bike but then my dad said i could get a four wheelier but is has to be a 250cc. I looked at honda, yamaha, kawasaki, and suzuki and it all came down to the ozark and the z250. But i cank decide. I have no need to tow things or to use the racks on the ozark. I'm wanting tobuy the one that does better when going off jumps, goes faster, and is better at trail riding. My trails dont have huge rocks and logs and stuff like that. Just simple dirt trails thought the woods. And my trails dont have very much mud either. And the only "racing" i'm gonna be doing is riding with my friends around my neiborhood streets. I'm not gonna be taking anything down to the racing tracks. And im not excactly a small guy either i'm about 5'9 and 180lbs. (but i can loose some wieght) But i'm not gonna be getting anything very soon cause i'm still wating to gat a job a kroger. (i only have about $100) With all the stuff i said does anyone know witch one would be a better buy for me. Also do these atvs have a weight limit? My 49cc dirt bike only had a limit of 160lbs. And when i went over it my frame started breaking. And all the brackets that needed to keep the motor in the frame broke off. But i guess thats what you get for buying a $600 cheap bike over the internet. Oh and im sorry for the long thread. I just want to make sure that my money goes to the right atv.

I'm 5'11 and 165lbs...I ride a z400 with no problem

depends on how old you are...if your like 14 your definatly going to keep on growing and that z250 will feel so small in a couple years. i think i'd probably get the ozark because they are waaay better in mud and learning on and would prob be more comforable riding. then when your a bit older and got a good paying job you buy a z400 for jumping and going fast plus you'll still have the ozark that you can use for mudding and such.

btw. on my z400 it says to NEVER exceed the maximum load of 243lbs on the warning labels....LOL lots of ppl that big ride them, i'd say around 200lb+ is probably a bit too much on a z250 thoug

Do you know if i was to ever go over the weight limit, would things start breaking like the frame and the suspension? Cause i bought a cheap dirt bike and i went over the 160lb weight limit and my frame started to bend and break. The bike wasnt really made by anyone i've ever heard of and it had DR writen on the seat. I payed $600 for a piece of junk and i don't want to make another mistake like that ever again.

aside from the plastic and cargo racks the ozark and z250 are the same quad. with that said it is a really great quad for what you want to do the only problem is the down shifting is a little choppy.

LilApe,

I think he meant the Ozark being a little choppy downshifting. My Ozark has been a great quad. It's a utility but sporty as well. I've had that Ozark on the same rocky trails that my friends ride their four wheel drive quads on, with no issues. It will handle virtually all terrain with no problems and has plenty of torque. As far as the weight limits, the manufacturers rate them low to reduce liability. They will handle more weight. But I don't think you would exceed the weight.

Not true...

Check the numbers on the suspension travel and dry weight. Big differences there.
