Would it be dumb upgrading from a 350 Raptor to a 400?..i was just wondering but i was planning on getting a 450 or a 700R...also i was wondering how often do the valves need to be adjusted on the 450's?

Now that was good hick humor... You have to decide what you want to do. Your choices go on and on. The 350 is a good intermediate bike that will do anything (I'm considering selling my daughters APEX100 two stroke race bike for a 350, she's 13). I'm sure our situation is not yours. You didn't say anything about your age our riding experience. Find a bike that fits your comfort with room to grow with after-market parts.. It's much cheaper to go bigger at first, then build from there as desired.....Just don't go over your head......Ya a friend has a 350 and it's a great bike, and yes the Z-400 will smoke it in every catagory (another friend has that).......I'm going to shut up know because I don't know enough about your situation to be of use.....

I had a 2004 Raptor 350 for two years and loved it for rough trail riding in the mountains and it was so so on the sand dunes. I had problems running out of power on long steep dunes and would have to shift down and would spin out. I had a 12 tooth front and a 40 tooth rear sprocket on it. So a purchased a 2004 KFX 400 (the Suk LTZ 400 and changed the sprockets to 12 front and 44 rear. I love it in the dunes and it is great in rough trail riding. It has much better low rpm torque then the Raptor 350 and am pleased on it performance on steep long dunes.
If I was to only ride in the mountains I would have kept the Raptor 350 since it is almost 3" narrower thus get around a little better. However, for my riding in the dunes and mountains, I am really pleased with the 400. Oh, I am 64 years old and love ATV riding. My wife has a 2004 limited edition LTZ400 and really likes it. she was riding a LTZ 250 and it really was underpowered in the dunes. We ride with another couple- he is 68 and rides a Raptor 660 and loves it, She rides a LTZ400.
