Whats faster, a Z250 or a DRZ 125L?
drz150l and regular go the exact same speed, its just that the L has a larger rear sprocket than the regular one.
The drz125 will have a higher top speed but the z250 might have better acceleration, i really dont know, i have a ds250 and my friends have a drz125, ttr125, crf 150, and crf230
If i were you i would get neither, get the crf150f, (not the crf150R, the 150R is much louder but it is a MX machine designed to compete against the 85 two strokes)
The drz125 pumps out about 7 horsepower, the 150 pumps out 11.5horsepower. There are lots of parts for the crf150
But if you have to get a 125, get a tt-r125, they are faster than dr-z125s in stock form,
The drz125 is jetted lean to meet emission standards i would get a tt-r125 carb for it if you must get a drz125
The dirtbikes will be much better than the quads for jumping, my friends hit jumps on their drz125s and ttr125 (doubles or tabletops) that are -------40 feet long and they get around 7-8 feet height above the landing ramp.------- But a 125 will start to break its rims and possibly suspension(my friend with the ttr125 did that and spent $1000 on a new one) if you do that.
A z250 should be able to hit jumps that are -------30feet long and getting 6-7 feet height.--------- Thats what im getting on my ds250, but it hurts to land, so you will need to get Boots (Fox and Thor are good),
If you start jumping a z250 6 feet high, you will need nerf bars because if your foot slips off the pegs if you are in the air and you land with your heel on the pegs, your foot will twist forward/down, resulting in a broken foot or a broken ankle unless you have nerfbars.
I would NOT recommend that you start hitting big jumps until you have about 50 hours (or the near the end of the riding season)of riding experience,
remember, always start small with your jumps, start with 1 foot height and 5 feet distance, and keep making bigger ones as you get bored.
I was assuming you would mostly MX ride since you were concerned about speed
how old are you? height? weight? That could be helpful to decide what you should get, if you're 12, and 5'2, and your parents are like 6'4, i would get something bigger like a crf150 or a crf230 incase you're going to outgrow a drz125L in the next 2 years.
