Default king quad engine trouble

I have just purchased a 2000 kq 300 2wd and it was running fine, now it is very hard to start, I have new spark plug, clean fuel and clean air cleaner, I checked the compression and it is 70psi is this high enough, once i finally get it running after turning it over for about five minutes, it seems to run fine, can anybody please help me I am getting really frustrated with this thing and I am sick of killing my battery trying to start it.

Thats pretty low compression!.....try this...pull the plug and squirt about an ounce of motor oil in the cylinder before you do another compression check....let the starter turn it over once or twice (hold a rag over the hole cause its gonna blow oil out...then hook up the compression tester again...if your compression goes up (to say 100 psi)...and I bet it will...then your rings are worn and you need a new top end.

I tried that and the compression jumped up to 110 psi, the rings must be worn out. Is there anything I can do to make it start for me because there is a later model polaris 4wd Ive got my eye on and if I can get it started I will take it down to them and see what they will give me for a trade, to be honest I can't be bothered putting rings in this old thing.

It's having trouble starting because of the low compression, try changing to 10w40, this may bring the compression up enough to make starts easier....I wouldn't use it for long term but its worth a shot...or maybe some motor honey or marvel mystery oil...any product used for "tired engines"...the auto shops are full of stuff like that...problem is that it may mess up your wet clutch so if it works trade it off asap...

I just tried an oil thickening product and the guy at the shop also told me to try some aerostart, but the thing still won't start, it almost seems like the timing is out. Is the timing adjustable on these and if so how? I really don't want to pay someone to fix it for me.
