I have a suzuki z400 and i have put 2 batteries in it and every time we go to ride it we have to jump it and when it is running the head lights and everything are low...what should I change ...would it be smart to try a solenoid first???/

 

Sounds like the voltage regulator is bad.

 

ditto that is why your battery is going down or it could be due to your magneto, but most likely it is the rectifier.

 

Thanks for all the help . I replaced it with another new battery and keep the trickle charger on it and so far I have had no problem, but if I need anything else or if that dont work I will try the regulator next, and then if that dont work then I will be back again...I do have another problem though....i rode the quad last weekend and when I was riding it even in first or second gear the quad kept wanting to die and felt like the quad was riding in fifth gear and then it kept dying all the time unless i kept just giving it hell in the trails but when I went to slow down it would try to die unless i gunned it....hope you have some answers....thanks again
