polaris or suzuki?

ok, I know I'm Going to get Flamed for this but...
I own a Polaris, and a Suzuki ATV.
That said, I will NEVER own a Polaris product again.
Suzuki Has been in the Dirt Bike / ATV business since it was invented "First on 4 wheels".
Polaris has done more in the snow mobile business.
My Suzuki Z400 gets ridden hard, It's been rolled, fliped, tipped, etc. The most damage I've done was to brake the rear grab bar, and bent another one. Every time, it gets right back on its rubber and goes.
The Polaris has had a number of problems, and drives like a slug. I've taken it to 3 dealers, all 3 said "That's Just How Polaris's are".
Just my $0.02

Well, I now have a polaris 800 and no problems. My close friend has the 2005 polaris 500 HO and not a single problem. We had a ATV riding trip with about 25 guys from my church a month ago up at Shiloh Ridge in east Texas. One of the guys had a suzuki 300 KQ. We worked on it all weekend and never could keep it running. And, the tranny would not go into reverse. So, does this mean suzuki is terrible? No, just one persons experience doesn't mean a manufacture makes junk. Today, I would have no problem purchasing a Suzuki, Yamaha, Arctic Cat, Kawasaki, Polaris, Can-Am and even a Honda b/c they all make very good quads.
Each manufacture will have some "lemons," its just part of living in a imperfect damaged world. I recond that if someone gave you a new polaris or any other quad, that you would take it. Even if you turned around a sold it, you will still take it.
I respect people not liking a certian quad from a manufacture, but to bash another brand all together shows subjective reasoning. But, that is everyones choice.

Fact are facts. Polaris at one time was the top brand to get. They are not there anymore, other brands have caught them and surpased them. Does this mean that Polaris is bad - absolutely not. But they are having their share of problems, is it design, parts used, quality control, I don't know. Will they iron these out, most definately. Will they be tops again, I don't think that they will ever have the dominance that they once had. I don't believe that the other major brands are going to 'fall-asleep', because they have seen what happens when a company takes a little nap. Unfortunate, but true.
Let's face it all ATV's are good, some just do some things a little better than others. These things don't break on their own most of the time, people break them. So, whoever is going to produce the machine that can take the most abuse and like the 'copper-top' keep on running will always be heads up on the other companies.
With that said - is Polaris bad - not one bit. People abuse them and they do break, maybe more so than other brands, maybe people that have them abuse them more - who really knows.

The worse thing that has affected all ATV's are aftermarket products to produce more hp, higher lift, and bigger tires.
With these a person is taking the AVT out of it's design and stressing it.
Lift kits stress the entire drive-line, by altering the angle of the CV joint and putting it at an angle that by design is not condusive to long life, they stress the CV joint, the axle, the differential, the transmission and the engine.
Putting larger tires do the same thing, by changing the gear ratio, causing every component in the drive line to work harder.
Products to increas HP also stress the entire drive line more.
If you notice, no matter what brand of machine, the people that have the least problems are the people that have made the least modifications.
I often chuckle to myself when someone puts a 3" lift kit and 28, 29.5 or 30" tires on then drive it into a mud hole that would suck your boots off if you tried to walk in it. They hammer down on a 700 or 800 cc engine with gobs of torque. And when something breaks they say "This machine is junk, I don't understand why it broke" --- DUGH!!! I am not a rocket scientist but I can tell you exactly why it broke. The machine did not break - YOU broke it.

I figure mine is good for at least 40,000 miles I have 2600 now so go figure what I will be driving for the next few days at least. I turn the key and it starts I go riding and I have a big smile - doesn't get any better than that. And even tho' some may have bigger motors - my dad can still beat their dad up, lol.....
