Touch up paint for z400
#1
Bought a new 06 z400 Friday. I installed full PRM skid plates and scuffed the paint of the frame in one area during that process. Does the dealer sell the matching colors for the blue frame and silver a-arms? If not is there a paint code I could use to get the correct color from else where? Thanks everyone.

Your best bet is to be the first to take a chip of the pain, a small Mag Lite and go to a model hobby store and match the color with a small bottle of testors paint that most closely matches the chip sample under close bright light (Mag Lite). Then buy the sample, test it out at home and then post the code number of the testers paint you used so that I can buy some for my white, blue and silver LTZ.

I say don't worry about it. After a year or so you'll be tearing the entire quad down to have it powdercoated anyway (that's what I did). The paint will wear super-fast where your boots hit the frame by the engine and start rusting, unless you put guards there too.

Warrior226 is so right!
When Iput my PRM skid plate on I also put down some rubber strips between the skid and the frame. Keeps it from rubbing and making noise. But where your ankle rubbs against the frame is all ready down to bear metal. I think I'll also get some touch up paint and keep my Z looking good or should I say my daughters Z! This has been the most trouble free quad that I've owned yet. I'll take it over my 450R any day!
