pipes

Of course you have to rejet after installing a pipe. I assumed peolpe aleady knew that. And yes I removed my air box. But a new pipe and rejetting will make a noticable difference from stock without an air box mod. I ran mine a couple times with the pipe before removing the air box. Yes, it was alot better without the air box.

jkass my quad is at the dealer as we speak getting an eldelbrock carb. i told them i wanted to remove the airbox but they didnt reccomend it at all, they told me that the air flow would bypass the filter, and with partial air box it would help. whats your oppinion on this. i wanted to cut the sides and the back off but leave the bottom to keep out debris, but after the dealers comment im not sure

I installed the air box eliminator kit from ESR. Dealer installed and rejetted mine and said it was a real nice setup. It runs great. Last time I rode it in April I weighed 274 lbs and raced my Bro on his KFX400 with a slip on FMF pipe with stock air box and he weighs 190. He never was close to me, so we switched bikes to see if it was the rider and he hand me my *** with my own bike worse than I beat him. IMO it makes a big difference. Alot of people run with the air box lids off and don't have any problems. I ran my 250R without an airbox also. Ran awsome. Just get a good cover for the filter. I use 2 womens knee high nylons on my filter and it works great.

Besides how would the air flow bypass the filter, I think there is a missconception about air filters, unless you have a RAM air setup, which I doubt any bike has. If so the air filter would be mounted in the front of the bike not behind everything and under the seat. It works more like a vaccum. Air gets pulled in. Air is not forced in. Of course you would need to rejet your carb to accomidate the increased flow through the filter. You might want to find another dealer. just my opinion
