Default 1985 Suzuki LT250R axle

I have a 1985 suzuki lt250r and I'm having problems removing the rear axle.
I got both sets of axle nuts off but I can not remove the axle from the swing arm.
Thanks

A chunk of 2x4 & a 4lb. maul and pound away. Although, if it's an aftermarket axle, it may have a snap clip holding it. If so, get it pryed off with a small flat blade screwdriver & then the axle will slide right out. If it's a stock axle, refer to my 1st answer.

Does it matter which side you pound from?

Usually you take the sprocket & sprocket hub off, so from the left.
