My z started making a noise just like the cam chain was rubbing but only once it reaches 1800rpm. so i took the valve cover off and found that my valve lash was way off...shimmed the valves to spec,(cam chain was good and tight) reassembled it and started it up, at first the noise was gone but it came back quieter..it sounds like its coming from the the front of the head(exhaust cam or valves) Just thought id see if any one had any ideas before i start to tear it down

 

Im sure you checked, but how about that cam chain guard(guide) that sits on top of the cam chain.

 

Now that i think of it something could wrong with the compression release on the exhaust cam, because it would not start until we bump started it, but before we shimmed the valves it started fine...any guesses or i deas let me know..thx
