Default Lt 500 (Quadzilla) exhaust valve

I have a Lt 500 and am wondering exactly what does the exhaust valve actually does? I have an idea but. Also, how do you set the valve or what is the procedure?

i believe it opens and closes to give you torque at lower RPMs by increasing back pressure but opens up at higher RPMs to allow the engine to scream and not be adversely affected by that back pressure which it no longer nees as much of at higher RPMs. im no expert just an ex zilla owner
