wife put 2 stroke fuel in the tank
#1
The wife decided to ride my mid 90's 250 and it was out of gas and I wasn't home. She found a gas can that had some fuel in it and put a bit in. Turns out she put my chainsaw fuel in. She didn't put much in but it was running real rough. Instead of draining the tank (which I know I should have) I just filled it up the rest of way with gas (figured since it was just a little it would dilute it enough).
Anyhow, it is running a bit better now, but still bogs down real bad sometimes and will barely stay running and spit and sputter a bit before it will have enough power to take off again. Changed the plug, hasn't helped. Anyone got a good suggestion for the next step?

first i would have to ask, how old was the gas ?
i have run mixed gas in the lawn mower ,it ran better had more power.
some day I'll try it in the quad on a dyno run ,just for kicks,i dar say no more than 50:1. cant say i know of any one thats done it.
tho i was told it lowers the octane, dont know if thats true ,nor do i know who to ask

When the tank is ran through, change the plug and put in the regular gas.
Won't hurt it since it was a small amount. Worst it did was foul your plug.

Something going on more than plug fouling. It runs great for a little while, then spits and sputters, no power, then catches up and runs fine again for a bit, then spits and sputters.

Well.........hmmmmmm.
This is what I would do.
#1. Put another new plug in. (I've had DOA and bad plugs right out of the box)
#2 Drain the float bowl. The saw gas might have had water or trash in it.
#3 Run the P#ss out of it.
And yes, oil will lower the octane of the gas.

I always blame the wife when I screw up too.
Just kidding, do what Doctorturbo says, clean the carb, get fresh gas in there and run it. It'll be fine.</end quote></div>
I so wanted to say that, But decided to let it go. I would have drained the gas, cleaned the carb, and changed the plug. Don't figure it to do much harm. Just needs to be flushed out.
