Charged battery, slow starter
#1
Hey guys. My Eiger has a fully charged battery, yet when I try to start it, it acts as if the battery has a very low charge. Would the starter be junk? All the lights are very bright yet the starter can't get the engine up to starting speed. Pulling the cord fires it up right away so I've narrowed it to the starter or a relay. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Have the battery load tested.
The only sure way to know if a battery is good or not, is to check for voltage drop under load. Just checking voltage with no load applied, doesnt work. You can do a rough check yourself by hooking up the voltmeter, and watch the voltage drop, while engaging the starter. If it goes below 10 volts, the battery, or connections are bad.
Any auto parts store will load test it for free. Just bring it in to them.

My nephews 04 was doing the samething, Turned out to be the starter relay under the seat next to the battery.
The way we found it was the problem was by accident! we bumped it while checking connections and it fired right up!
It would work for 2 or 3 starts then act out again. I replaced it and no other problems.

Load tested, and it's ok. Yeah Rags, I lifted the relay up and it cranked over about 4 good times, then it slowed again. I also crossed it at that point, but to no avail. Maybe I'll go about replacing that, how much was it?

Exactly the way my nephews acted! 1st make sure all connections to the relay are good, if so then the relay probably went bad!
I can't remember what he paid, But I looked it up on Bike Bandit and it is $50.26
Part # is 1478605-001 (Bikebandit part #)
