Mine is bone stock, and a handheld garmin never exceeded 42 MPH (67.6 KM/H) on it while on a level packed dirt ground. I weigh about 200 LBS (90.7 KG).

How are you all getting over 60? Even with more HP, unless the RPM's go way up, or you change gearing you won't go faster than that. Just wondering...

By the way, my RMZ250 bike would be full out at 65 MPH -70 MPH, which has nearly double the HP of my wife's quad (LTZ 250). and taller gears.

the only way to get more top end from a shaft driven machine is either to get more rpms than the stock rev limiter will allow or get taller rear tires gearing it up. you can mod the engine out the butt but it will only allow you to get there faster but the end result is still the same

The Stock LTZ250 by the book tops out at about 45mph.

If your LTZ250 quad sport is staying with any 450 dirt bike its because he wants you to be there. I have the LTR450 quad racer and my wife's LTZ250 when its running topped out in 5th gear has the LTR450 in low range 3rd gear to keep up with her while barely running up the engine rpm. If I goose the third gear heading to 4th gear I will walk away from her real fast.

Cruising speed on the sand with the wife who tells me she is in 5th gear on the 250 is me most of the time in 2nd gear on the 450.

on a dirt/gravel road my LTR 450 can barely stay up with with the 450 dirt bikes in 4th gear and my 5th gear is way to squirley to attempt using it on a dirt/gravel mixed road with my wide racing tires. The 450 dirt bike can pull away from me at will; however, going overland is a different story and i can hold my own with the dirt bikes with the wider more stable wheel base and the wide tires to a point if I put my mind to it then yes i could pass the dirt bike if i really wanted to but its more fun following them so I can watch them can it up in the soft sands and such.
