Carb Rebuild for 1998 KingQuad 300
#1
I just did a rebuild of the carb and replaced the jets with what came in the kit.
My brother (previous owner) had done a rebild a few years back and what came out in my rebuild were a 120 Main, 37.5 pilot and 155 for pilot air. The dealrship said these were stock jets. The carb is running super rich and I'm not sure how many turns out the air fuel mix should be. I set the needle clip on the lowest setting (rich) because that is where it ran best from idle through full throttle. No I don't have a service manual.
I did the rebuild and plug because it idled perfectly but popped and backfired at both ends (exhaust and at carb) when reving it up.
Any tips on how to ge this to run smoother would be great as well as tips on how to adjust the enrichment screw. Must be a SST for that location!
Last question. The hard intake boot on the carb has some slight cracking around the base where it bolts to the motor. That thing is thick and I can't feel that any cracks internally. I don't dare work too hard on those two phillips screws in fear of stripping them. Is this cracking normal as an indicatin of age?
Thanks
Thanks!
