Default 2000 King Quad 300 front wheel locking up????

Okay, last weekend i was riding with no problems at all. I stopped to eat lunch got back on the atv and it seemed like the wheels were maybe frozen to the ground gave it a little more gas and it broke free, went to use front brakes and noticed they weren't doing anything!!!!!!
pumped them a bunch then they worked fine again......

stop a few minutes later for a drink. started the atv back up put it in gear to take off and my left front wheel wouldn't turn. atv went forward with the other 3 wheels turning fine. front left just slide across the leaves on the ground. put it in reverse and then forward a few times going a foot or two with it still locked up then all of a sudden "pop" and it spun freely. rode the 3 or 4 miles back to my trailer fine. next morning got up to move it and now the opposite front wheel (front right now) was locked up. did the same thing back and forth in the gravel several times then it broke free.

Does anyone have a clue what is going on???? Please help me.

Temps were about 25 degrees.

Your brakes are binding up - pretty common on the KQ300 drum brakes.

Pull off the drums and you'll find all kinds of crud in there. Everything will be so dirty and corroded that the springs that pull the brake shoes back will not have enough strength to move them. Pulling the brake lever will have enough power to engage the brakes but the srpings are just not strong enough to pull them back. BTW, the back brake will do this too, but it's more common with the fronts.

You should be able to clean everything off and have it work fine. Just make this a regular part of your maintenance routine as the 'sealed' brakes on the KQ don't seal very well.

Owning a KQ was what taught me to never store my bike with the parking brake on.
