Default 05 Eiger Problems

Having some problems with my 05 Eiger. Just bought it used a month or so ago and ever since it has never idle well. Always feels like it wants to stall and it does but only while sitting in idle or I notice problems when I am switching between forward and reverse. I am pretty much a novice at working on bikes. I drained the float bowl on the carb and that didn't fix it and I checked the air filter and it was clean. Appreciate any advice or help

Eiger's are known to get dirt in the carb. I cleaned mine 3 times and did not get it, finally had to give in and let the dealer clean it, there was the tip of a pine needle in the carb.

They are also cold blooded. Until I jetted mine it would take a long time to warm up, 30min sometimes. Before it was warmed up it stalled at idle and when shifting to reverse ( because you have to get it to idle to shift to reverse ). Try keep the choke on a little for a while, that used to work for me. Now that I jetted it, it only take 5-10 min to warm up and if I leave the choke on a little I can drive as soon as I start it.

I had similar problems with my Eiger. I know of two others who also have similar problems with theirs. It seems the vent tube that comes up from the carb under your seat is allowing seeds, pollen, dirt etc to make its way up through there and into the carb. My local dealer said that is the problem. Not through the fuel line. They have been putting a filter on that hose to eliminate anymore crud to go to the carb. You just have to keep that filter from clogging up thus affecting the carb. You have to get your carb and jets cleaned out and than put a filter on that tube. I hope this helps.

The jet kit works good for me. Gives me alot more power. I put 26" MudLite XTRs on it and Skid Plates, it slowed it down alot. After the jet kit it woke it up and brings it back to what it was without the bigger tires and more weight.

There is a long thread started by aksafari ( the Eiger Master ) that talks alot about jetting the Eiger. It has recently been bumped up, do a search and read it, good stuff on the Eiger.

greeneiger- So you used a fuel filter on your vent tube? If so, how is that working? Any air restrictions?

It's not a fuel filter. It's actually a muffler for a air line. Never had a problem with it yet. It looks more restrictive than it is. It's ment for air lines when you turn them off and the extra air bleeds out of the line so you don't go deaf.

Where is the vent tube located on the carb, is it the long tube that vents down by the fuel shut off?

the hose starst on the top left side of the carb behind the fuel switch and runs up under the seat and ends beside the air intake. Have a look at my pics, may help out a little more.
