Eiger 400
#1
I hope someone here can help me as my dealer would not.
My Eiger has suddenly lost all throttle.
It will start up and idle as it always has but it will not take any throttle.
I put a new spark plug in and it still does the same.
It will sputter and die when I push on the throttle.
I removed the screw from the bottom of the carb and it had fuel in it.
I tried it on prime and no difference.
Gas is fresh as I plowed all winter with it.
Thanks for the help

Also I should have mentioned that I drove the quad into the garage after using it for a couple of hours and it ran great.
Then I started it about three days later and it will only idle.
I also checked out the air cleaner and didn't find anything.

All these idea's are good one's , but check your spark plug if it hasn't been changed since you finished plowing ; the plug should be replaced at least once a year and even though Suzuki Engine's run good on the same plug for over a year it could be fouled !
I had the same spark plug in my 93' Suzuki LT4WD 300 KQ for 3 year's without a problem , except for fuel mileage it ran great ; then one day i went for a ride on the Cohutta Wilderness Area 12 mile's from the parking lot it wouldn't start up after i shut it down for a break !
It was lucky for me that the spark plug for my 86' Honda TRX350 Foreman used the same plug , i had a spare for the Honda but i left the spare plug for the Suzuki at home ; and check the plug gap even though they're preset from the factory you should alway's check them !
Here's hoping it's something simple , and good luck finding the problem ; sometime's it's something simple !.......

Hey guys, Thanks for the help.
I had to remove the carb three times and clean it as each time I re-installed it the engine ran better and after the tgird time it runs pretty good.
I think I have it somewhat leaner than it was originally because it needs just a touch of throttle to start.
The only big issue I ran into is the chaoke cable housing where it screws into the carb is pretty cheap and I just barely got enough threads to hold it on the last time.

I know what you mean about the choke having a cheap screw on cap , my 93' 300 KQ and my 86' Honda 350 Foreman 4x4 had a plastic nut on the end of the choke cable where it screwed into the carb body redwood ; i think they're all made like that so you don't crossthread the nut and strip the threaded hole in the carb !
I took my Foreman to a freinds shop for new tire's and cleaning out the fueltank , when i got it back i found out that the Dealer who i entrusted to do the work had farmed it out to some guy who ran the shop for her when she was Racing on the weekend ; when i went to pick it up she told me what all the guy did to the Foreman i asked her why she didn't do the work herself ?
Her reply was i thought you knew i raced on Saturday's and Sunday's ?
I told her i knew she was Racing in the Nascar Bush Series , but i thought she was going to do the work on a weekday or i would've done the work myself , she said she was sorry for the misunderstanding ; and she gave me a new choke cable for the one the guy broke when he tried to screw the nut in sideway's !
Add Some Sea Foam to your fuel , and if you suspect gunk in the carb get some Deep Creep to spray into the thoat of the carb while it's running ; then with the engine off open the throddle wide open and spray enough Deep Creep to flood the carb and intake then let it sit over night !
The Deep Creep will eat away at the gunk , sometime's without removing the carb ; and tearing it apart ; then if you're running to lean turn the mixture screw counter clockwise a half ture at a time untill the RPM's increase and then reset the idle speed !
You can get the Sea Foam and Deep Creep at most any Auto parts stores for around $6.99 + tax for a 16 oz. can WalMart has the Sea Foam for $5.49 + tax but they didn't have the Deep Creep ; Deep Creep is the same as Sea Foam only it come's in a spray can !
You won't find a better Fuel additive anywhere at any price that will do all the thing's as Sea Foam , it's been on the market with a money back Garranttee since 1942 ; any a product that has been around this long and still carries a money back Garranttee has to be good !
For the price you can't go wrong , i hope you get your Quad going ; and have a good time on the trail's !,,,,,,,,
