the other day i put a new bulb in but doesnt want to light, when i got the bike it didnt work so i bought a bulb, does any of the wire from the front light have anything to do with the brake light???

Its just a taillight, not a brake light. It gets power from the grey wire when you turn the lights on. The black wire is ground. The power is AC, not DC. I don't know if it makes a difference what bulb you use. That might be something to look into. You can't exceed 45-50 watts total for the lighting system or you'll burn up your lighting coil.

Hmmm... Was looking at how my dads Rear brake light is set up on his Honda Shadow... Looks pretty simple- just a little switch like thing that gets pressed with the application of the brakes

That would be a simple upgrade. A simple contact switch on the rear brake peadel would work great. Or, in the intrest of longevity in the muck, a magnetic switch on the rear master cylinder plunger rod.
Good upgrade idea.

To do that the socket would need to be modified or replaced. It would require a dual filament bulb from a newer machine. One filament for each tail and break light. And (as JR has mentioned) the total wattage would need to be kept to a minnimum. I think the stock 230 bulb is only rated at 5 or 10 watts. It will not be very bright. But could use LED's I guess.
Wow. One page. Aint it cute JR?

Or just use the one bulb as a brake light with no tail light.
It all starts with one. [img][/img]</end quote></div>
