crack in rear diff

Default crack in rear diff

i have a 2005 eiger notice it was leaking from around the fill plug for the rear diff thought it was loose, noticed hair line crack there .only time this plug has been out is when it was serviced last year by dealer...any one else ever see this????and can you have this welded??????

Should be able to have it TIG-welded.

Sorry to hear that. Never heard of this happening to anybody else. Any yes I would think it can be welded. keep us posted

yeah i will keep u guys informed , my buddy is a retired paint and body man he is going to look at it and see if he can weld it ,i was shocked to see this i really kind of baby this atv it has been a great atv i cleaned it up and put some permatex on it i can hadle a little leak if it does but i dont want any water in there can this be mig welded or just tig welded??? i this cast alum is differnt to welded,,thanks

I'm not a professional welder by any means, but I think you'd have a lot more luck with a TIG welder. I would image that if you cleaned it up and brought it to a welding shoppe they could lay a bead for you for next to nothing.

thanks for the input what i did is got some ideas from alot of people , right now i cleaned it up and ruffed up near the plug till i get it welded and put some jb weld on it , i bought it new in 2006 had it serviced late november 2007 all i can think of is they ran the plug into deep "tight" talked to the dealer they would not say much. but i will see how it works
