Default 1986 lt250r quadracer help

i recently got a 86 lt250r quadracer...the guy i got it off of said it didnt run that the cdi was bad but later that day i got it to bomb start and it would only run for a short time and then it would kill itself..when i took the plug off and grounded it to the frame and turned it over it would give a small blue spark...and then when i was riding it it died again and it would not fire..so i grounded the plug to the frame again and got nothing..so i checked every thing that i could check using the service manual and i only got a low voltage going to the primary ignition coil but i dont know if that is what it is supposed to be or not ..but on the coil the primary coil got a closed circuit and when i checked the secondary coil i got an open circuit...so any help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

i had the some problem so i know where your coming from the only thing is i have a lt230 1986. this is what i did. i bought a new igniton coil and spark plug. i dont know why but that helps. then take your idleing pin and which is on your carb it shoud stick out pretty far and should take a flat head screw driving. so twist that pin in almost all the way and try to fire it up. now i caution you do not put it into gear bc it will move on its own but if it starts keep it running and loosein the idleing pin until its where its suppose to be. i dont know why but for some reason all of this helps. i wish you luck hope you get it running!!!

like i said check your idleling pin all you have to do is tighten it a little bc the idleing is cutting out on you bc its to low so turn it like 4 clicks and it should run nice bc mine did the same....sounds like we are running into the same problems
