LT80 won't start
Starting work, I don't have much time to search right now.
Son's lt80 is just making a clicking noise, but won't turn over. Battery is charged fully. Under the seat next to the battery there is a fuse or relay that is making the clicking noise. Do I need to replace this part or would it be something else? Thanks to all replies in advance! |
LT80 won't start
Well, I checked the battery, it's close to 150 CCa's, so it's really charged up. I think what was flipping the reset switch is the starter binding up and surging. Does anyone know a way to keep the starter gears lubricated?
Bike will start now after reseting the switch a crapload of times until the starter turned over. |

I'd try a 12 volt supply right to the starter and see if it's acting up (wore).

Good idea, I guess that will isolate issues with the starter. Might be the solenoid.

LT80 won't start
Well, I went home and kept pushing in the resent switch, tried starting it, and the switch would pop out. I kept doing this over and over again until finally it started. Since then I have added a in - line fuel on/off switch. Now I make sure to almost run the carb dry before turning off the motor. Now she starts on the first push of the starter button each time.
I'm guessing after washing the bike water is getting into the starter motor causing some kind of corrosion that's causing friction. So in closing, I would say I still don't know what caused the problem fully. Sorry I could't really help. |

yeah, i'll give that cutoff a try, seems flooded when I am trying to start it so maybe the thing is filling up with fuel. It will over time start like you said, but huge PITA to get it going.
Where did you get the switch at, might I ask??? |
