quad king advice
#1
f found 2 used king quads in my area for sale. first one is an 07 kq450 with 700 miles on it and the other is a 06 kq 700 with 800 miles. prices are decent for both...
questions. any issues i should be aware of on these bikes? will i need to install a belt soon? how do they handle off chamber? Looking for a stable ride - all my previous quads have been straight axels.
thanks for the help.

The only issue with the KQ is that the steering can be a little twitchy sometimes. This can be fixed or improved several ways if you feel the need. The belts should last several thousands of miles if not abused. Also, the KQ is supposed to be one of the more stable, better handling IRS machines out there.

I have a 07 King 700 and love it. The main reason I chose it was because of the power and yet it has a low stance so it is very stable. I have heard of the steering issue but haven't had a problem yet <knock on wood>.
Either machine would be a good buy.

thanks - i have read the coaster solution to the steering, sounds complicated. if i find i need an aftermarket steering stabilizer, how hard are they to install? i like to do all the mods myself.
Also, assumming i get the KQ450 - should i stay with the stock tire size to keep the torque? Guys i ride with have the ITP XTR and love em. I currently have supergrip super lite - but i get stuck in some of the holes they make it thru. Does the KQ like radial tires?

I have an 07 king quad 450 with 25" swamplites. I have not noticed any power loss at all. Plus swamplites measure bigger so you should gain a little ground clearance. You will not have a problem going where your friends are going w swamplites. I bought a mine from atv direct for 230 dollars shipped to my door.

Both are great machines. I have a 450 KQ with a little over 800 kms on it and so far no majors issues yet with it. They ride and handle great. I had no issues at all riding on side hills. Very stable and yet smooth riding. Steering can be a little bit twitchy but not bad and I noticed it seemed to be a bit better after I installed bigger tires and aftermarket rims. Kinda weird because you would think bigger tires would make it worse but it didn't for me. And no noticable powerloss either with bigger tires. 26" Mudlites
