Default Can't start my 1985 suzuki lt 185

My wife bought me a fixer upper for father's day. It's a 1985 Lt 185 that hasn't been run for 2 years. It was running when put away and I have changed all the fluids filters, spark plug, brakes, chain, and sprokets. I drained the old gas the other day from the tank but she won't go. First couple of pulls she coughed (bit of exhaust) but now nothing. The kill switch (red toggle beside right hand grip) is in the center position (not to the left or right). There are no markings for the switch. Anybody know which position it should be in? Any other ideas? Appreciate any help (my arm hurts from pulling the starter).

Hey thanks for writing back! I've got a week of leave form the Air Force this week so I guess I know what I'll be doing. Would you happen to know which direction I should position the red kill switch on the right hand grip? Because the labellling is worn off I don't know which position is which? Should I move the switch counter clockwise I fully? Or Leave it in the center position? Or perhaps move it move it clockwise fully? 3 positions with no labelling - yikes. I've search the internet for a picture that might detail the labelling but no joy.

Try it where it is if it fires it is set on run..If it doesn't it maybe set on kill if the switch isn't messed up...... If it doesn't fire where it is now move it either way and see if u can get some fire...if no fire either way u move it...It may be meseed up or u have firing troubles... Good luck wiring a SWITCH hehehe but i will see if I can fine how to trun it for ya ....

Well, I spent my Friday working on the beast. I drained the fuel tank and all the lines. I checked for spark and I've got spark in the center position! Yah! Darn thing still won't start. Fresh fuel and double checked all lines are tight (including the fuel "on" switch). I guess I'm down to the carb now. I'm concerned about opening up the carb and messing it up. It's too easy to unscrew the top and have a look inside and spray some carb cleaner in but beyond that maybe I should taker her to the shop. Any ideas?

Wot color is the fire??Blue is good but if it firing red fire then something wrong with elct.. The fire is not hot enough to run if it red and not blue...AS for the carb there isn't much inside of it so u should be able to take apart and put it back...Just watch hows u do it and when done u will know how it goes back..Good luck
