Fixing up an LT80 that sat for 2 years. Have new battery, fresh gas, cleaned carberator, new spark plug, new injector oil and have engine covers/air box off. Bike seems to be straved for air. Does the cooling system push air into the carb when the covers are on?

With the covers off you maybe getting to much air.You did not say whether or not you got it to start at all.My son has an LT80 and when it sat for a few months it would not start and I remember from trying to start his gas powered remote control car that you have to hold your thumb over the exhaust to restrict it a little well when I did this to his quad it fired right up and ran fine. Also on my 2000 Blaster it died one day while riding and felt like it was not getting any gas and after much tinkering with the induction system it turned out to be the safety switch located in the thumb throttle was bad. This switch kills the motor in the event that you flip the quad.I'm not sure if the LT80 are equipped with this system or not but my guess is that they are since this is a childs quad and for safety sake they have something like it.Anyway I hope I was of some help good luck.

I had a similar problem once..........there is a small vent hose that goes from the carb to the crank case.........it looks just like an overflow hose..........make sure it is in place!

I think it must create some sort of vacuum. My sons LT didn't want to run worth a crap without it connected.

also, keep draining the carb bowl..........if the tank had any water in it, it will find its way to the bowl.........hope this helps.

The LT-80 has a safety switch that needs the rear parking brake on in order to start. Just pull the emergency brake lever up ( right next to the foot brake) and try it again. If it's up already check for spark. Sometimes LT-80's can be a real pain in the butt to get started. They always seem real cold blooded when ice racing in WI.As far as the airflow system it should start with all the covers off,but I ould hook up the carb hose and airbox in case maybe it's getting to much air.

If you took the carb off, make sure you replace the o-ring that goes between the carb and the head. That won't keep it from starting but it will burn hot on the intake side of the piston.

Can anyone recommend where to find a tire turf tamer type that will with the stock rim on an lt80

make sure you also have a clean and oiled air filter.
