I have had my stage 2 jet kit for about a month now thinking if I should put it on or not. I have a K&N filter and white brothers slip on pipe and was going to run no airbox lid. Is there anything negative that could happen if i do the jet kit. I do alot of fast trail riding and raceing I dont ride slow much so I think this would help me out but I dont want to mess anything up. Thanks

With just a slip-alone you don't really need to re-jet..... but if you open the airbox you should because you are increasing the air so you need to increase the fuel. They are all set pretty lean from the factory, so any extra air into the system could cause a lean condition.
The slip-on by itself will not change the air/fuel mixture.
I would just be careful if you are running an open air box with a K&N to make sure and run an outerwear pre-filter. The K&N do not filter down low enough for some dusty conditions and the z400 intake sucks pretty hard. Small dust particles can penetrate the filter and get into your engine and you don't want that for sure......
Running the jet kit and open air box won't hurt anything as long as the mixture is right, and the air filter is protected.
The slip-on by itself will not change the air/fuel mixture.

It sounds like you are safe with that set up.....
Yes you will notice a difference.... and in fact if you are running that air-box setup with stock jetting, I'm willing to bet you are running lean and you should re-jet.
more fuel + more air = more speed
get the head-pipe designed for your muffler and you will complete the puzzle...

Not that I am an expert by any means but I agree with ss97. Though it is a different machine my brother had a z250, when the air box lid was removed that thing wouldnt even run past idle and everything else is stock even the muffler. So I would say yes to rejetting when removing the lid but like ss97 said with the K&N and two outerwears you should be ok

I am having a problem. I just bought a 2005 suzuki LTZ400 quad from Nevada and moved it down to California. We're below 1000 feet in altitude, so that was a significant change from 4000 feet.
I cleaned the carburator, air flter is clean, i need to know what size jets i should be running down here. I have no aftermarket upgrades, it is just stock.
