Default swing arm issues

New to the site!! great place!! here is my first post!! thanks for any and all help.
Ok I bought my lt250R off ebay and pretty sure I got screwed, been fixing small things like carb issues and a water pump that came apart, but the new thing is a cracked sway arm right where the bearings are. Now this is a 86 frame with a 87 motor. I have seen some 87-up frames and I really like the sway arms on those years, so can I put an 87-up arm on my 86 frame? or would I just be better off in the long run finding a 85-86 arm and bolting it on. I was a machinist for 5 years, and a mechanic for 7 years now so if I have to do some modifying its not a problem but if i have to do a lot of work and I get done and this thing takes another crap I may just have to sell it then I'll be out what work I did get done (I really wish I didn't buy this thing)

why not just have it welded and call it good. probably better than buying something off line and it being crap also. Id amagine u have the circle swingarm where u turn the carrier too adjust chain.

yep, circle swingarm. that is a good idea, maybe weld it then dial it in on a CNC mill and cut out the area for the centric, I'm going to go ahead and tear it apart and see what I have. thanks

cool, thanks for the info. I think I'll just go that way. I found more stress cracks on the sway arm so if I try to fix it I think it just might get worse
