Hey can anyone tell me if a 1989 quadracer swingarm fit on a 1986 quadracer chassis. I broke mine and got it fixed and i found this 1989 swingarm to buy for a backup but dont want to buy if it wont fit. Did they change the chassis from 1985 to 1992. Any help greatly appreciated.

Big D..... YES it will fit. The only changes to the 87-92 frames were in the motor mount front cradle. The 87-92 engines had the exhaust routed different vs the 85-86. I know this because I have previously owned an '86 LT250R AND one of my friends has an 85-86 frame with an 87-92 engine & swingarm on/in it. The only thing he had to do was fabricate the front motor mounts to route the newer style exhaust on the old frame.

To put an 87-92 ENGINE.... NOT SWINGARM!!! in an 85-86 frame requires the downtube in front of the engine to be cut & "Y'd" off to the lower frame rails. So, unless you used JB Weld to do this adaptation, nothing will fall off.
NO welding, cutting, grinding, jimmyrigging, etc. is needed to put an 87-92 swingarm onto an 85-86 frame. It bolts right on using your existing swingarm bolt. However, I would highly suggest putting in new pivot bearings while you have it apart.

You guys kill me..........
The swingarm may "bolt" in the chassis...........BUT...... It has a different dogbone/rocker arm and carrier needed to COMPLETE the swap.
I'm guessing the "goal" is so you can ride it after your done, NOT just look at it on the garage floor with the swinger hanging in the chassis.
LMAO.

Ok, cleaned up the replies a bit, just got rid of some of them.
I could have done it the easy way, but that wouldn't help the person that started the thread. That being said, next time I will hit the easy button.

RK, I think he knows (I hope he knows) that the carrier is different & depending on what year, may be a non-linkage one also.
I'm thinking what he was looking to buy was a complete setup, if not, then yes other parts will be needed. I guess I just assumed it was a complete setup. He never stated whether it was just the swingarm or complete either.

As long as it's complete, it will all work. What RK & I were meaning was that the 1985-86 carrier would not work on the 87-92's and vica-versa.
Also, the shock linkage will differ on 87-90's AND 91-92's were lingageless.
Hope this all makes sense.
