I have a qiuck question i am new to the two strokes owned 450 to full blown raptors but i am stumped on the connecting rod clearence on my 250r i bought it 4 years ago and first time rebuild but you can move the connecting rod side to side about a 5/16 maybe smaller it ran fine when i tore it down and now putting it together and just am worried about this. How much clearence is fine or is this normal? I am talking about the clearence with the connecting rod to the crank and side to side movement. Any help will be great thanks Big D

too much replace the bearing on the big end of the rod, check the crank bearings also by taking the stator cover off and grabing the mag and try to move it in out up and down.if that moves more then .010 replace the crank bearings and seals

movement side to side on an lt250r acording to the book is 23.040mm or .9071 in. i would say your fine. this is due to the thrust washers being on the piston side of the rod. so make sure you have thrust washers between the piston and the wrist pin bearing to keep the rod from slapping around.
hope this helps

that movement your seeing,is that split in half from the connecting rod/center of engine?do you get any up and down movement of the connecting rod?Because even if the thrust washers are there that can be too much movement according to my engine builder Vitos Performance, but if there is no up and down movement then its ok.
