Cold Weather

most vehicles are a little tougher to start in the cold. try turning the choke all the way on for when you're starting, once its started you should be able to turn it back to half, then once its warm, you can turn the choke back to off.
if you had a new '09 Z400 it would have EFI and start on a dime everytime no matter what temp.

well i wish i had a 09... it is an 06 and i have tried the choke thing, still really hard. as soon as i shoot it with some starting fluid it fires right up... think it might have other problems than just the cold????

not true atvman29, i have a 2008 suzuki ltr-450 and it is fuel injected and starts hard in the cold, especially when its under 30 or 40 degrees</end quote></div>
I started my LTR this morning when it was still 27 degrees. Fired right up without so much as a hiccup.
The wife's Ozark 250, on the other hand, was nearly impossible to get fired up. Had to wind on it forever with the choke on. Then, had to baby it long enough to warm the engine a little before it would even move out of its tracks.
What mods does your LTR have? A good portion of engine mods that make more power will cause an LTR450 to be harder to start in the cold.

Well then you might have something wrong because that's one of the big benefits of efi. Temperature should have little effect on starting.
