have a 85 lt250r and blew motor. got the bike on a trade as an extra put the thing all back together and got it running had less the half hour on the thing and it just gave. shelled casing broke trany gears etc... dont have most of motor any more and am lookin to replace it. wanting to know what years would fit or maybe different motor all togther. and if any one has one for sell or know where to buy cheap?

 

85 and 86 are the only like years. It is based on a dirtbike motor though, and those may fit? 87 and above were based on the RM motors and have different mounts, etc. Where are you located?

 

located just south of kansas city kansas. just bought momma a new quad and now that gives me a reason and permission to fix mine

 

Ahh, well, I have seen whole running quads of that vintage going for 1K or less sometimes. Good luck finding an engine, they are out there.

 

Hey you have a 85 lt250r and the motor blew up right so the bike is complete. You are out here by me kansas city, question is what you looking to spend? Two you'll never find a complete 85 or 86 motor so if want to keep bike then find a 87 on up motor on ebay but pricey and just change the front motor mounts. Or sell the bike and get another. I have a 87 and a 86 that i changed over to the 87 motor and absolutly love mine i flat track race them. If you get rid of it let me know or if want to change over to 87 mounts send me a email and i'll take some pics and send to you
