Suzuki Twin Peaks HELP!
#1
I recently bought an 04 Suzuki Twin Peaks that had been sitting for a while. I rode it a couple hundred miles and it ran a little rough so I decided to change all the fluids, check the valves, replace the spark plugs, and clean the carbs. Everything went fine until I was putting the carbs back on the bike. I cleaned them and put them back together exactly as they were previously assembled except one major detail. When reconnecting the coolant tubes and vent hoses I did it backwards. So when I had it back together and continually tried starting it, I was pumping coolant through the carb and into the cylinders. After realizing my mistake, I took everything apart again and gave it a thorough cleaning and replaced the engine oil figuring some coolant may have got in there. Boom, it started right up...except now it's blowing smoke like crazy. I've never had this problem before. I adjusted the pilot screw as prescribed in the manual, but that didn't change anything. I pulled the plugs (brand new) and they're black and soot covered. What could I have done wrong? The plugs were dark before I replaced them, but now they're worse and it's smoking.

Make sure your oil is at the proper level. I seem to recall it takes an odd amount, and it is very very easy to over fill. If over filled it will pump oil back up throuhg the beather and right into your carbs. I have a dealer do this two mine twice over the years.
