2007 Vinson And Plowing
I found a nice 2007 Vincent with 450 miles at a dealer---list/asking price is $4200---I assume could be negotiated on a cash deal. I need a plow though. It's at a non-Suzuki dealer---must've been a trade. The dealer said the only issue with a Vinson (he seemed a little unsure about this) is that it does not have locking front differentials which he thought would be necessary or at least an asset in plowing snow. To give you some idea of what I might be plowing, check out This Link over on the Honda forum. I still keep coming back to an ATV due to the other duties it will perform (cutting firewood, dragging out a deer, and just getting up and down my crazy driveway). Also considered a Kubota, old plow truck, etc. but those setups would have limited duties and the Kubota is pretty pricey. I saw someone running Super Stud chains and if I can find a set, I would buy them. Presently my driveway is covered with 2 inches of ice and I assume I could at least go up and down the driveway with the Super Studs and leave my poor old Jeep at the bottom. Sigh...

Looks like you've been through a few Vinsons! The dealer called me back on that one and it's a standard shift. He said they'd take $3800 but it doesn't have a plow so I'd have 4500 bucks in it with a good plow I guess. In the unlikely event that Wife would drive it, automatic would be nice. If I have time this week, I may take a run to a dealer that has a 2007 Vinson automatic with 275 miles and a manual plow for $5000 plus tax. What's all this business about locking differentials? I found a spec sheet for the standard shift that says "5-speed with reverse and 2-speed subtransmission, 2WD/4WD front differential." The Vinson automatic at the dealer is probably the best deal going at the moment. I let a better deal get away but it just wasn't a good time. Before I spend more than $5,000, I'd probably take a good look at the Hondas and 0.99% financing which is almost free money. You ever do any plowing with your Vinsons or are you in Southern California?

I live in Colorado and use my 07 Vinson to plow my street, and my driveway, and a couple neighbor's driveways. The road is graded dirt, and the driveways are gravel, on an incline. Although we have not had a heavy snow yet, the Vinson has done a great job plowing. I have been able to plow snow that was coming over the blade. I have a 50" blade on it. It also has 27" Kenda Executioners on it. It is the automatic transmission, which I think is better for plowing. I suspect later this winter I will get a chance to see how it works in deeper snow. BTW... I was able to buy the Vinson last spring with 220 miles, a never used plow, and a winch for $4200 here on Co.

They are going pretty quick around here. I saw a 2005 Vinson with a plow in the paper a couple weeks ago with low hours, etc. at a price of $5,900. I knew it wouldn't sell at that price and I saw the guy dropped the price to $4900. I called about it and it was gone. I asked the lady what it went for and she said he got his asking price. I'd buy one in a heartbeat for $4200!
