As reliable as any two stroke if you aren't a moron about it.
Run good oil (Amsoil,Klotz,Polaris,Golden Spectro, etc) at a 40:1 mix Keep the air filter clean, use 91-93 octane gas. Make sure the jetting is correct & don't hold them wide open for miles & miles down the road and they'll live a long happy life.

a lot of 2 strokes dont idle. but its not impossible to fix. a clean carb and good gas are a big factor</end quote></div>
Don't idle.... HAHAHA!!! You obviously don't have a clue.
If the spark plug(s) aren't fouled, the air filter is clean, the idle screw is set properly, air screw set properly & pilot jet the correct size, a two stroke engine will idle all day. Provided it doesn't overheat.
I have had a trx250r, lt250r, & many MX bikes and still own two snowmobiles that are 2-stroke powered. All of which idle rock solid & will do so all day.
