Default 2003 vinson questions

My wife just bought a 2003 vinson auto 4x4 500. It will be here soon. It was a trade in at a local shop it has 1700 klm on it. Tommorow i will go over the bike. I wanted to know more about the bike. are they fairly good bike. What type of air filter is on it paper or oil foam type. I looked on bike bandit but it is hard to tell. If it is the paper type can i change it to an oiled filter type without rejetting it?

Ok we got the bike, and after reading on this site, and others. I have read about some cracked frames on the 2002 models. Is this something to worry about. The wife will not be jumping this bike but we do go through some rough terrain?

I have an 03 Vinson and have not had any issues with it. I run 27" XTR without a lift. We ride mountains, mud, swamps and trails. Very reliable machine IMO

Thanks for the reasurrance papahouse. It is a very nice ride compared to my kawasaki 300 prairie. It is in great shape. I think it will last her for awhile. The only thing I see that it needs is the plastic protector on the front left. Cv protector I think it is called.
