Default 400ex A-Arms on 86 LT250R

Alright, so a little while ago im looking for something on google reguarding the upper shock mount relocation mod for the early model LT250r (short stock shocks) and i found a little more than i bargained for.....

I came across this ancient post on some other forum with this canadian guys lt250r lookin sweet with 400ex a-arms.

I tried to message the guy, but he is no longer an active member.

But the fact that he said "they bolted right up" REALLY got me thinking. theres nothing i hate more than the stock "\ /" camber on my arms! plus, a few extra inches of width would be awesome!

But, this raises alot of questions.

First, what will i do about spindles? honda uses a different style lower ball joint than suzuki and im not really sure if im gonna be able to adapt it.

Then, if i got honda spindles, could i use my suzuki hubs? and what about the brake caliper mounts?

i think he said that he had to move the lower shock mount but that's no big deal. otherwise, are the measurements the same on the frame mounting points?

i know im going to need longer tie rods btw, thats no big deal

any input of any sort would be GREATLY appreciated as my first race of the 2009 season is coming up SOON!

thanks, austin

Have you ever tried the 250R arms on the 230S? Are they a bolt-and-go?

yes i have, and no they arent

the bearings are spaced farther apart, but if you could move the mounts on the frame, i guess they would work.

Would it be worth it? How much longer are they? The 250S arms weren't quite as plug and play as I had hoped they would be, but they're on there.

um, are you asking if its worth putting 250r arms on a 230 or is it worth putting 400ex arms on a 250r?

yeah probably. they are a little longer (like 1.5") and moving a mounting tab on the frame shouldnt be all that hard.

oh and you might have to move the lower shock mount on the lower arm, but thats super easy.
