Well i was learning a little bit about this new toy i just picked up yesterday. Its an 84 185 with very nice plastics and starts first pull. Its only issue seems to be an upper end ticking.. more noticeable under load. The seller told me he never bothered to check the valve clearances but i'd like to hear if there is any other common things to look for if i dont find anything wrong there... apparently there is a plug in the front which is a pain to get to where the other one is right under the seat. What is the spec on them supposed to be?

I'm going to get a Clymer Manual for it. So far i haven't heard any tricks or common issues to look for besides having a tricky vacuum fuel system.. i should put an inline filter in somewhere? Is it normal for it to grind getting it into reverse?
