Default is boring worth it

hi guys i have not been here in a long time but once more i need your exellence. so some months ago i lost all compression in my 88 lt 230s. i just started taking it apart and looking at the damage and it looks like i messed up the cylander head from riding with no muffler on at all. it looks like a pice of the head messed the cylander walls up.

i guess my question is do i need to fix the cylander or can i just get a new piston? also if i do need to bore it out what is the best size to do. i am going to college next year far from home so i wont be doing a lot of riding then so i dont want to buy a whole new quad or dump a whole lot of money into the one i have now any help would be great.

thanks
zz8t

think you could post some pics of the damage? that would let me get a better idea of what needs replacement...

and as far as boring goes, the smartest thing to do is go +1.5mm so you could always go to the next common bigger size (+2MM) in the future. after that, you will need a new sleeve.

look around on ebay, theres some guy that does boring for $35 a cylinder. fast and straightforward. nice people that do an honest job.

and make sure you get a wiseco piston kit. more compression = more power! and it includes all the gaskets you need...

good luck!
