i jus recently moved and the quads been sitting for about a month i finally got it moved to my new place and it ran fine .suddenly i go out to ride it and it wont start ive pulled the tank bc the gas flow seemed weak so i cleaned the filter screens, i found it will start with some starting fluid but as soon as it burns that up it dies what should i do?

 

oh and i just found out that when the petcock valves in the o n position no fuel is coming out same with reserve it only comes out on prime but the quad still wont start on prime

 

Have you checked the float to see if it's stuck? Is the carb actually filling up with gas?

 

i just went out and it gets fuel and starts up when i put my hand over the end of the carb it sucked gas thru and got all over my hand and it started up
but i have to do it on prime bc "on" and reserve has no gas flow at all

 

The z400 is known for having the petcock become blocked...... I've seen several of them have this problem, and Suzuki had a TSB about it a few years ago.

Apparently there is some rubber in the petcock that can break down and clog the valve. This could be your problem. If it flows on PRI but not ON that would be my guess.

 

well i realized the petcock is fine i somehow overloked the fact that the fuel runs off vacuum prime will pour out without vaccum i unhooked the gas line and turned the motor over and it shot right out....the latest issue now is it started up for a minute idling higher than usual this quads becoming a pain in my a*s i dont know what to do now
