z400 vs kfx700
#3
If they are both stock they are pretty close to even......
In a flat drag....When my '05 z400 and my step father's kfx700 were both stock, it was a pretty close drag race. It depended on who go the jump. If I got in front, he could not pass me, and if he got in front I could not pass him until about 5th gear....
Top end the z400 is faster because the kfx700 runs out of gearing first....
On the track it was not even close. The z400 is quicker out of the turns and faster around them compared to the kfx700. I could usually get behind him in any turn and come out much quicker to take the pass. But that has to do with handling more than power and the z400 is a much lighter and better handling machine.

Its like Hemi said, a very qualified rider can take an under advantaged quad and smoke a lesser rider on a better quad!! Also like ss said the stock V runs out of gear ratios at about the time the Z hits 4th. The V with clutch mods is an entirely different beast!! It will keep on getting it, but you are comparing apples to oranges. They are entirely different bikes!! Trust me I have alot of seat time on both! I love both machines and have owned both, for me to pick a favorite would depend on what I was doing with either one! You will have people that despise the V and people that love it, it's not for everybody. If you are drag racing only, then there are alot of mods that you can do to the V that make the big v-twin a torque monster!! Also dont forget that Doug Gust won championships on the Z while he was racing against 450 class machines!!! Both bikes have my respect!
