Default 92 suz smoking

I started my LT250 quadrunner today to take it for a short ride. About 5 minutes into it I thought I must have lest the gas off because it died. The gas was on and I got it started after a minute and headed back to the garage. For about 100 yards on the way back it smoked like a mosquito sprayer. Worse than any 2 stroke. Reminde dme of turning a push mower back toward the plug then starting it. I figured I blew a ring out of it and just parked it outside. BAout 1 hour later i decided to start it instead of pushing it in and it ran fine, no smoke, no noises, Any ideas what could have happened ? thankd Tony

check your air filter to see if anything has gotten past it and into the rings....sounds like you have some dirt/crap in there that caused the rings to let some oil past their normal seal

This same thing just happened to me on my 91 250 4WD. I haven't tried to start it since the smoking, but looked at the oil site glass can it was either full or empty couldn't tell which. I unscrewed the oil cap and thin brown oil came flowing out, as though it has been watered down with gas. Bizarre! Any ideas? Have you checked your oil yet?

that has got to be the strangest thing i've heard in a while. the second time you ran it, did it start smoking once it warmed up?

KenM,

Thanks, that video describes my problem exactly. That's what my quad looks like too. I had already found by doing some Googling what had happened. I changed the oil twice and it's now running ok.

I am not so lucky as quad in the video though, my engine now smokes, all the time. Runs ok, just smokes, so I guess I may need new rings at some point.

I'll be turning off the gas from now on.

You're welcome Kazooooma. Sorry about your rings though.

I have the same Quad too, but not in as nice condition as the one in the vid, that one is mint!
