that is how i was checking spark. plug in the wire, grounded to the frame. i hate haveing problems with this...and i dont have another cdi avalible to me. ill be more clear, me and my friend went to CAW for a 6 hour ride. BTW durring the ride i broke by neg cable connection off of the battery. half-*** wash it at CAW then go back to his house and really clean it. get up the next morning and its still wet. fix the NEG cable and it fires right up with no choke, it idles for 3-4mins then cuts out. i fire it up agian, rev it a little then it idles and dies. tryed to start it agian it pops a few times then won't start. check all conections then clean and blow them out. still nothing. load it up bring it back to my house(5 min drive) unload it, check spark GOT IT! tried it agian and it was gone. couldnt get spark scince then. so what would i loose in performance going from a yoshi CDI to a stock one? how would i check if its even bad? thanks for all your help!

Sounds like a wire issue........
I don't know how to check the CDI other then trying one that you know is good. If you were about 2000 miles closer I'd let you use my extra .....
Might need to pull the side cover off to check the stator. You'll find better answers on the other site.

Yeah Procom makes most of them. I had one on my 05 (labeled Advantage) with 0 issues and have had zero issues with the Yoshi on the 04. Just heard of alot of issues.

Did you do Glamis when you were in AZ? I can't imagine a better place to ride though the dunes in the deserts of the Middle East look great!

I can't really do anything till i get another CDI....i went through the harness agian and checked everything and it all looks ok. i have tried a different coil and i know im not getting any input from the CDI to the coil, and im not really sure how to check output from the stator.

And i have been to glamis once, it is an awsome place, wish i still lived that close

I have a ltz 400 and its the best quad all you need to do is a full system pipe and k&n filter.
