Personal Modification Interests
#1
Hi members, I would like to hear what personal modifications you've made to your quad. Other than placing a piece of plywood on the carriers. I personally liked the welded on fishing rod holder when you're parked up at the beach. I also get bad migraines in the bright sun & heat, so will be making an attachable canopy for shade when fishing. Again love to hear what you've invented.

All my ATV's have a strap hooked low down on the frame in front. That strap is run up to the front rack and attached with a bungee cord. This way, whenever the ATV gets stuck in deep water or mud, a tow strap or winch can be connected without diving into the muck. On my Outy with a winch, the winch is hooked to a tree saver strap that is looped around the front rack. Here too, you can grab the hook without diving under water.
On my Outy, I've added a rear rack box in three parts. The two outer boxes are only 2-1/2" deep, but are sized to perfectly fit either a cooler or a 1-1/2 gallon gas can. The boxes have eye hooks on top so it' simply a matter of looping two bungees over the top of the coolers or fuel can and they will stay there all day long. The center box is a sealed dry box for maps, gloves and whatever you want to keep dry. Also, that center box releases with two wingnuts to give access to the stock Outy storage box underneath.
Also on the Outy - I've added a second 'muffler' - only this one is a pvc pipe with a fake exhaust cap. Not only makes my V-twin look like it has duel exhausts but it makes a great place to store dirty tow straps.
My Eiger has some Suzuki options - a solid deck for the rear rack and a low rail around the rear rack that has two low points to haul pipes or logs.
For our little TRX we added a full skidplate - really helped with low ground clearance issues.

Great ideas you've created. I was thinking of a self pully system also incase I'm out alone & stuck. Brilliant idea for the dry area, being a person thinking of safety I always have a first aide kit on hand & that's also kept in a dry bag until I get my quad back home today & make those handy little storage containers. Also coming to put a spot light on the back as I go fishing often at night also & that'll make life a little easier when reversing (see what I'm about to run into or over :-). Just trying to think of a simple way to carry the casting rods as they get in the way when turning & over the handle bars. Fortunately I have a towbar & when I get around to it I'll back a suitable size trailer, damn handy when fishing & taking firwewood back to the cabin not to mention all the fish I'll be catching. Cheers for the reply. Happy & safe riding

Thanks Texas. I did that & everytime I went around the corner the damn rods get caught up in the vegetation. I think once I get the rod holders in for when fishing I could make a double bracket & strap them from there. At least they"ll be facing upwards & only pluck low flying birds from the sky instead of getting a rod right were it hurts. Cheers for the reply.
